Background
Francisca graduated from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), Portugal, with an Integrated Master's degree in Veterinary Medicine. During her undergraduate training, she developed a strong interest in veterinary neurology. After graduation, she worked in small animal general practice before completing a rotating internship at Southfields Veterinary Specialists and a Neurology and Neurosurgery Internship at Dick White Referrals, where she gained experience in the diagnosis and management of neurological diseases in companion animals. In September 2025, Francisca joined the Hospital for Small Animals at the University of Edinburgh to undertake a Residency in Veterinary Neurology and Neurosurgery, where she enjoys all aspects of veterinary neurology.
