Thesis title: What do health workers need, to facilitate physical rehabilitation in low-resourced settings?
Background
Fiona has worked in the NHS, Tibetan refugee and Burmese migrant settlements, Indian clinics, Georgian social orphanages, on hundreds of wilderness endurance events and expeditions. Fiona is Chair of ADAPT, the British Professional Physio Network for Global Health and directs www.developing physio.com, a small NGO creating a global health worker curriculum for CBR workers in low-resourced settings. Fiona was a speaker at the World Physio Congress in Geneva, in the ‘working in LMIC’ symposium. Fiona leads the ADAPT International Online Conference, with 500 physios from over 90 countries attending annually. Fiona's background includes founding Matterhorn Medical Ltd, (medical provider for wilderness endurance events and expeditions, bought by Promethus AlphaMed) and Athletes’ Angels Ltd (providing physio cover for remote and rural events). Fiona grew up in Germany, Hong Kong, Canada and the UK and has since lived and worked globally. She loves the wilderness and her background includes fund-raising for charities via ultra-running expeditions such as the Everest Marathon, Polar expeditions in the Arctic and bike expeditions through Pakistan and Cambodia.
