Biography

Background

Fiona is a researcher in animal health for Supporting Evidence Based Interventions in Livestock (SEBI-L), at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, University of Edinburgh.  She qualified as a veterinarian in 2006 and gained extensive experience in clinical practice in the UK, Australia and South Africa, working in first-opinion and welfare practices.  She obtained a PhD in infection and immunity from the Roslin Institute, studying East Coast fever at the livestock-wildlife interface in northern Tanzania. 

Research summary

Fiona's research interests are in global animal health, especially in low- and middle-income country settings, development, epidemiology, public health, One Health, and welfare.
