Research summary
Eswar's research interests are aimed towards how law confronts the frontiers of human activity, where ambition tends to arrive before regulation. His principal focus is outer space law, where he examines, through his PhD, questions of legality, sustainability, and equity of extraterrestrial resource exploitation. Beyond the PhD, he also deals with the sustainability of the orbital commons, the regulation and the environmental impact of space debris, and waste-dumping on the moon. Beyond Space Law, he also shares significant interest in international environmental law, dealing with sustainability, transboundary harm, and the equitable stewardship of shared global commons. His interests also extend into the law of innovation and emerging technology, spanning artificial intelligence, intellectual property, data protection, and cybersecurity.
