Background
My academic journey began with a Bachelor's degree in Animal Breeding and Genetics from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria. This foundation led to a fully funded scholarship for my Master’s degree at Wageningen University and Research, Netherlands (2017–2019), where I deepened my expertise in genetics and advanced research methods.
Following my Master’s, I pursued a PhD in Switzerland, where I worked on the "Genetic and Genomic Basis of Nitrogen Efficiency in Swiss Large White Pigs." This research was conducted at Agroscope, while I earned my PhD from ETH Zurich (2019–2023). My work focused on leveraging genetic and genomic tools to improve nitrogen efficiency in livestock, contributing to more sustainable agricultural practices.
After completing my PhD, I briefly worked at Biomathematics and Statistics Scotland, where I developed pipelines for Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) and genomic prediction in ryegrass and wheat, further expanding my expertise in plant genetics.
Currently, I am a Statistical Geneticist at the University of Edinburgh, working on the DecodeME project (https://www.decodeme.org.uk/).
