Background

In July 2021, Eleanor graduated from the University of Liverpool in Pharmacology (MBiolSci).  She spent her master's year on placement at Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool where she conducted research into the adverse drug reactions and deprescribing of leukotriene receptor antagonists (montelukast) in children with asthma.  This research contributed towards her being awarded the prizes of "Best Student Degree with a 1 Year Placement”, a school-wide award, and "Best Project (MBiolSci)" at her graduation.

Eleanor presented two posters at the 2021 European Respiratory Society Conference and the 2021 British Pharmacological Society Conference, sharing her master’s work. Both posters explored treating asthmatic children with leukotriene receptor antagonists, with one poster focusing on the attributed adverse drug reactions and the other focusing on the safe deprescribing of montelukast.  Eleanor was awarded the Flash Poster Prize and the Early Career Poster Prize at the British Pharmacological Society Conference for the latter poster.

Eleanor looks forward to continuing her research into the adverse drug reactions of respiratory drugs, applying her knowledge to TB.
