Background

Dr Roxani Faltzi is a Teaching Fellow in Language Education at the Moray House School of Education and Sport, University of Edinburgh. She joined MHSES in March 2020, having previously taught at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and in a range of educational contexts in Greece. Dr Faltzi has also extensive experience in language teaching and curriculum development, having worked as an EFL and ESP teacher for over fifteen years.

Her teaching and research interests are in Applied Linguistics, and sociolinguistics, with a focus on language attitudes, identity, language education, pre-service teacher education, and English as a Lingua Franca.

In her current role, Roxani draws on her interdisciplinary background and expertise in Applied Linguistics to support MSc students, aiming to equip them with the tools to thrive in a multicultural and interconnected world. She is guided by a lifelong engagement with language and communication, and a quest to understand the threads that connect us, shape who we become, and help us make sense of the world.
