Background

Iam a Lecturer of Digital Education and the Global South. My work is underpinned in systems thinking, learning theories, emerging technologies and intersectionality. I am among the pioneers of digital education professional development, teacher education and refugee education in the majority world.  My professional goal is to facilitate and upscale the transformative use of available digital tools, across various  contexts, to leverage access, equity, diversity and equality. Earlier,  my work focused on the application of education design science and democratic pedagogies to facilitate education access and participation in post-conflict regions. Endeared by the potential of technologies to empower and leverage access, my work is now increasingly focusing on possibilities for multi-tiered systems of support for access, and participation for marginalized populations. In exploring this research interest, I collaborate on research that focuses on digital education ecosystem development and coalition building to embolden networks, policies and practices of support in Higher Education. Given my academic background, and in the context of the fourth industrial revolution (4IR), an interdisciplinary approach that augments design thinking with generative artificial intelligence  is promising. I am leveraging education design principles, systems thinking and intersectionality frameworks to advance an agenda for multi-tiered digital education systems  based on ubiquitous technologies.
