Background
Reiss joined the UKDRI in 2024 as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and is based in the lab of Dr. Bhuvaneish Selvaraj & UKDRI Director/CEO Prof. Siddharthan Chandran. Reiss is using human patient stem cell models (iPSCs) to culture neuron and glia cells for assessing Motor Neurone Disease pathophysiology. Reiss is also using these cells to screen candidate drugs for clinical trial (MND-SMART).
Prior to joining Reiss worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Cambridge. At Cambridge, Reiss was a research lead in Dr. Caroline Williams-Gray & Prof. Roger Barker's lab, and contributed towards several Parkinson's Disease clinical trials. These trials aimed to investigate peripheral versus central immune function as drivers of proteinopathy and disease progression in Parkinson’s disease.
