Background

Lindsay Randall is an Academic Developer (Teaching Fellow) on the Academic Development team. She is a trained social scientist and researcher, holding a PhD in Social Anthropology, and has received a range of awards for her work in social science, including: the University of Edinburgh's Principal's Career Development Scholarship (2016-2019), a Wenner-Gren Fieldwork Grant (2018), and received an Emerging Scholar Fellowship from the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation (2020). She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Lindsay has taught anthropology, sociology, and interdisciplinary courses at the Universities of Edinburgh and Glasgow, and has developed curriculum, courses, academic policy, and supervised independent undergraduate research projects with Arcadia University's College of Global Studies.

Her work in academic development is broad and focuses on: research supervision, programme and course design, and assessment. She has experience and interests in pedagogy, ethics, and critical AI literacies. She is a reviewer for the Moray House School of Education and Sport's ethics committee. Lindsay is also the Associate Editor for the University's teaching & learning blog, Teaching Matters.

In addition to her role as an academic developer, Lindsay works as a consultant learning specialist and social researcher for third-sector organisations. She is also a peer reviewer, copy-editor, and consultant translator for the French-Ethiopian interdisciplinary academic journal, Annales d'Éthiopie.
