Background

I completed my joint undergraduate degree at the University of Glasgow, in Psychology and Classics. I went on to study an MSc in Evolutionary and Comparative Cognition at the University of St. Andrews. I completed my PhD at the University of Edinburgh in Individual Differences: comparing primate personality, including group, age and sex differences across species (incl. humans). I also became an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy whilst at the University of Edinburgh.

After finishing my lectureship at Edinburgh Napier University, I have returned to the University of Edinburgh to teach Individual Differences.

Areas of interest for supervision

I currently supervise undergraduate and Masters dissertations here at the University of Edinburgh, which include elements of Individual Differences: group, age and sex differences.

Current research interests

My research interests are broad in Differential Psychology, usually with a comparative aspect between primates, group differences and more. I have previously examined acculturation success and coping strategies in Third Culture Kids - or TCK's (these are humans), as well as individual differences in social groups and network monitoring in brown capuchins. My PhD involved several analyses on group, age and sex differences in chimpanzees, Japanese macaques and capuchins. I currently supervise undergraduate and Masters dissertations here at the University of Edinburgh, which include elements of Individual Differences: group, age and sex differences etc. Due to current availability constraints, I can only support student projects in human populations at this time.
