Background
Jenny Scoles is a Lecturer (Academic Development) and leads the Curriculum Design and Teaching Enhancement team in Academic Development. She has worked in Higher Education since 2007, initially in International Education before moving into educational research and academic development roles. Her interest in workplace learning and professional practice underpinned her MRes and PhD in Education Research at the University of Stirling (both Departmental fully-funded qualifications). At Edinburgh Napier University, she has worked on innovative projects in assessment and feedback, peer review of teaching, and designed the award-winning 'Students as Colleagues in the Review of Teaching Practice' initiative.
She has worked at the University of Edinburgh since 2018 (at the former Institute of Academic Development). She is currently Chief Editor of Teaching Matters, the University's learning and teaching blog, podcast and newsletter, and leads the annual Learning & Teaching Conference. She runs the Board of Studies Network and training across the University, as well as advising Schools on evidence-informed programme and course design. She actively researches in a broad range of pedagogical inquiry, and is peer-reviewer for International Journal of Academic Development, SoTL in the Global South, and Eurpoean Journal of Higher Education.
