Background

I have a background in biochemistry and cell and molecular biology research and now lead student services, support and experience at the School of Chemistry.

I completed my PhD in molecular genetics at the University of Edinburgh in 2004 and, between 2004 and 2012, I was a postdoctoral researcher working on a range of projects from yeast genetics to cancer drug discovery.

In 2012 I had my daughter, and undertook a 2-year career break.

I returned in 2014 as the project manager of the EPSRC and MRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Optical Medical Imaging, jointly hosted by Edinburgh and Strathclyde Universities. As part of this role, I provided inclusive student support for PhD students. I held this post until 2021.

I started my current role as Head of Student Experience in 2021. I oversee all student-facing activities in the School of Chemistry including the operation of the Chemistry Teaching Office, Student Support Team and Graduate School.
