Dr. Holt J. S. Hauser is a private practitioner and teaching fellow based in Edinburgh, United Kingdom. He received his Doctorate in Psychotherapy and Counselling from The University of Edinburgh in 2020, and received his Post-graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy in 2017 from the same institution. He operates private practice Holt Hauser Therapy, and holds a teaching fellowship at the University of Edinburgh's Counselling, Psychotherapy and Applied Social Science subject area, and acts as a placement manager at University of Edinburgh’s' Hope Park Counselling Centre. He has multiple publications on person-centred theories of practice and research philosophy, as well as relational aspects of qualitative inquiry, in journals such as Person-Centred and Experiential Psychotherapies, The Person Centered Journal, Counselling and Psychotherapy Research, The British Journal of Psychotherapy, and Cultural Studies ↔ Critical Methodologies. Completed a PgDip in Counselling and Psychotherapy based in dialogue between Person-centred and Psychodynamic approaches.

Postgraduate teaching

I teach on professional programmes, provide clinical management to trainees on placement, as well as offer research supervision to masters and doctoral students.

Research summary

I conduct research into person-centred theory, practice, research and pedagogy as it relates to the field of counselling and psychotherapy. I also have a keen interest in the intersection between gaming and therapeutic affect as it relates to adults.
