Background
I am a Research Assistant working on the creation of an online searchable database of Jātaka stories in the texts and art of South Asia, funded by Dr Naomi Appleton's Philip Leverhulme Prize. Jātaka stories describe the past lives of the Buddha, and have been a highly influential genre in Buddhist history and culture. Prior to joining the University of Edinburgh, I was a Research Assistant at the University of Sydney, and taught at the Australian National University and Deakin University.

Research summary
My primary research interest is Buddhist literature, particularly Buddhist narrative literature. To date, the majority of my research has focused on a Theravāda Buddhist text in the Pāli language called the Apadāna. I have also been involved in a collaborative research project for the conservation, digital imaging and study of the marble-stelae recension of the Pāli canon preserved at the Kuthodaw Pagoda in Mandalay, Myanmar. As reflected in my publications, my broader research interests include:
- Pāli language and literature
- Sanskrit language and literature
- Buddhism in South and Southeast Asia, particularly Myanmar
- Textual criticism
