Background

I took a degree in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery, then a master degree in Veterinary Anatomy from College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Duhok, Iraq. I received a scholarship from Kurdistan Regional Government to study PhD at University of Edinburgh. My research PhD examined the involvement of microRNAs during ovarian - luteal development in monovular species including bovine and human. After completing my PhD, I worked for 7 years as lecturer and researcher at University of Duhok. Recently, I gained a Post-Doctoral fellowship at University of Edinburgh to investigate the novel stem cell tool to combat equine infection-towards the reduction of antibiotic usage and antimicrobial resistance.

Undergraduate teaching

  • Teaching Veterinary anatomy for undergraduate students (2007-2011) then cell Biology (2017-2024),  College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Duhok.

Postgraduate teaching

  • Teaching Molecular Biology (2022-2024), College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Duhok.

Current research interests

Current research concentrated on the use of equine iPSC-derived MSCs (iMSCs) as tools to combat infection

Past research interests

My research focused on the investigation of the potential roles of microRNAs during ovarian development in monovular species. This work was performed during my four-year PhD and continues to develop within my recent research. The research performed to manipulate miRNAs levels to identify the target genes that contributed in the cell survival, apoptosis and steroidogenesis which in turn inform the development of better strategies to treat infertility in cattle and women. Moreover, a different work focuses on the identification and sequencing of the bacteria obtained from animal samples.
