Background

I joined the department in 2004. Prior to that I taught at several colleges in the University  London. I have previous professional experience with topics in computer science.

I am interested in the nature of understanding, particularly of morals, ethics and people. In my work I develop accounts of moral understanding oriented around experiences of morality and the good.

Almost all of the history of philosophy interests me, but especially Plato. Recent philosophers whose work I admire and study include Simone Weil, Stanley Cavell and Peter Winch.
