Background
David graduated from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies (R(D)SVS) in 2017 and spent several years in small animal general practice before returning to the Hospital for Small Animals in 2020. He completed a small animal rotating internship, after which he joined the Ophthalmology Department as a resident.
In 2024, David completed a European College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (ECVO) residency alongside a combined Master's degree. He was appointed Lecturer in Veterinary Ophthalmology in August 2024 and has since been actively involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. David currently serves as the University’s course organiser for the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE) and teaches ophthalmology to second-, third-, and final-year veterinary students.

Research summary
David has a special interest in the genetics of ocular cancer, with a particular focus on feline diffuse iris melanoma. In 2024, he presented preliminary findings from his research at the European College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (ECVO) Congress, where he was awarded best resident oral abstract presentation.
