Background
I am a bioinformatics analyst working between the Marioni research group and Generation Scotland. I obtained my PhD from the University of Edinburgh where I examined the epigenomic effects of a chromosomal translocation linked to major mental illness in a large Scottish family (supervisor: Dr. Kathy Evans). Following my PhD, I worked with an Edinburgh-based bioinformatics company before returning to the University of Edinburgh to undertake an Alzheimer's Research UK-funded postdoctoral position with Prof. Riccardo Marioni. My research primarily focuses on omics-based prediction of disease risk and complex traits using genome-wide DNA methylation and genotype data.
