Background

I am an Academic Developer at the University of Edinburgh, where I lead CPD provision for Graduate Teaching Assistants and serve as Academic Lead for the Introduction to Academic Practice (IntroAP) course, an AdvanceHE accredited route to Associate Fellowship. I have over fifteen years’ experience in undergraduate teaching in the creative arts, I have previously held roles as Undergraduate Programme Director,  Lecturer and Technician at the Glasgow School of Art and University of Huddersfield.

I am particularly interested in the impact of small pedagogical choices; how we acknowledge students, design participation, and share power in the classroom, can build a sense of mattering and agency. I see belonging not as a problem to solve for some students, but as a condition we are collectively responsible for creating through everyday educational practice.
