Background
I began my PhD in October 2021 after completing an MSc in Psychological Studies at the University of Glasgow.
Before moving into academia, I was deeply involved in badminton. As a student-athlete, I represented my university team from 2015 to 2019. During this time, we achieved notable results, including winning the 2017 Hunan Province University Badminton Championship (provincial level) and placing seventh in the 2018 Chinese University Badminton Competition (national level).
Alongside my uni playing, I worked as a badminton coach at a local club from 2016 to 2020, with a strong focus on youth sports development. I also served with the city’s Badminton Association, where I was responsible for coordinating volunteers and managing referee training and development programs (2016–2019).
These coaching and management experiences in sports and movement field inspired my transition into academic research. In 2019, I joined the Institute of Psychology as a research assistant, where I focused on the impact of physical activity as a cognitive intervention for the ageing population.
