Thesis title: Meaningfulness within youth sport?

Background

I started my PhD in October 2021 after completing an MSc in Psychological Studies at the University of Glasgow.

During my undergraduate studies from 2015 to 2019 in China, I was a funded badminton student-athlete sponsored by X-TRM Sports Ltd. During this time, we achieved the Champion in the 2017 Hunan Province University Badminton competition (provincial level) and placed seventh in the 2018 Chinese University Badminton Competition (national level). Alongside, I have many years of coaching experience in community and entry-level performance clubs from 2016 to 2020. I also have working experience in a sports organisation, working for the city’s Badminton Association, responsible for coordinating volunteers and managing court official training programs (2016–2019).

After moving to Beijing, from 2019 to 2020, I worked at the Institute of Psychology in China Academy of Sciences (CAS)  as a research assistant, responsible manage psychological research program titled the impact of physical activity and digital media on cognitive intervention for the ageing.

After September 2020, I moved to Scotland and completed a one-year postgraduate taught programme. I obtained an MSc (Merit), with a thesis in cognitive neuroscience, focusing on the identification of EEG-based neural markers of ageing and Alzheimer’s disease, which was awarded a grade of A4. I was also granted Graduate Membership (GMBPsS) of the British Psychological Society.

Recently, I am still working in the badminton field as a part-time coach, amateur player and as a certified court official volunteering in Badminton Scotland. And my research interest is in sports and education and open to diverse research methods, with qualitative and psychological methods.
