Background
I started my PhD in October 2021 after completing an MSc in Psychological Studies at the University of Glasgow.
Before moving into academia, I was a badminton guy. As a funded student-athlete, I represented my university team from 2015 to 2019. During this time, we achieved some wee results, including winning the Champion in the 2017 Hunan Province University Badminton competition (provincial level) and placing seventh in the 2018 Chinese University Badminton Competition (national level). Alongside, I worked as a badminton coach at local clubs from 2016 to 2020. I also worked for the city’s Badminton Association, responsible for coordinating volunteers and managing referee training programs (2016–2019). These experiences inspired me to pursue sports and movement-related research.
From 2019 to 2020, I interned at the Institute of Psychology in China Academy of Sciences (CAS) as a research assistant, researching the impact of physical activity and digital media on cognitive intervention for the ageing.
Now, moving to Scotland, I'm combining the two pathways that involve working on the badminton field as a certified line judge in Badminton Scotland, and research in youth sport and coaching.
