Caroline Gordon

Lecturer

Background

With several years of experience in Primary Education, I have focused on primary literacies and language learning, both in the classroom and through collaboration with educators. I led the implementation of the Scottish Government's 1+2 language policy at local authority level, supporting schools in the development of primary language skills, with an emphasis on meaningful language learning contexts.

I have developed and delivered professional learning opportunities, designed transition models, and initiated projects that integrate language learning with sport and digital literacy.

I have worked with children, families, and schools to develop strategies for supporting learning through English as an Additional Language, focusing on language and literacy practices across the curriculum, while fostering an environment that values the diverse cultures and languages students bring to the classroom.

I also work on Erasmus-funded initiatives, designing and leading English immersion courses for teachers in Edinburgh, Ireland, and Spain. These courses focus on developing English language skills and teaching methodologies, including CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) for French primary educators.
