Background

Carine is a forth-year PhD student in Linguistics and English Language whose research explores how bilinguals understand ambiguity in their second language (L2). Previously, she has completed an MSc in Developmental Linguistics at Edinburgh, where her dissertation explored the effects of language experience on L2 discourse cue usage when processing ambiguous pronouns, and a BA in Psychology (Minors in Linguistics and Cognitive Science) at Rutgers University, focusing on language acquisition and neuropsychology.

Outside of being a student, Carine is the Student Evaluation Officer at the uCreate, the University of Edinburgh's first makerspace, as well as  a volunteer with Bilingualism Matters and the co-host of Much Language Such Talk (www.mlstpodcast.com), a podcast which discusses bi/multilingualism in various contexts.
