Background
I am currently pursuing an MA in Japanese Literature (Classical Japanese).
I use pre-WWII books and documents (Mostly from Meiji period) to show students how Modern Japanese grammar and writing system connect to their classical origins. My teaching centres on communicative Modern Japanese from beginner level onwards, gradually intergrating diachronic linguistics and the evolution of language to unravel the reasons behind difficult grammar points and irregular exceptions. I sometimes give live decoding demonstrations of Historical Cursive Japanese texts in my intermediate+ classes!
I am a qualified Modern Japanese language teacher in both the UK and Japan, with over a decade of teaching experience from absolute beginner to upper-intermediate levels.

PG Cert in Teaching Japanese as a Foreign Language, IIEL London
Passed the Japanese Language Teaching Competency Test (official Japanese Ministry-recognized examination)
BA in Language, Nagoya University of Foreign Studies, Japan
