Dr Annie Taylor

Research Assistant

Background

I am a Research Assistant at Moray House School of Education and Sport, University of Edinburgh, working on the multi-disciplinary, multi-site Excluded Lives project which explores the political economies of school exclusion and their consequences.

I have experience in policy, practice, and research spanning health, social care, and education, and have been involved in various research studies across the public, academic and third sectors, with a focus on children and families. My PhD was a qualitative study (interviews, focus groups, photo elicitation) with women and practitioners, exploring alcohol use in pregnancy. I am passionate about using qualitative and creative research methods in collaborative projects that draw across diverse sectors to improve policy and practice.

My research interests include inequality, marginalisation and exclusion, gender, maternity, and drug and alcohol use.
