Biography

Background

I qualified as a teacher of FLE (Français Langue Etrangère/ French as a Foreign Language) at Université Paul Valéry Montpellier III and as a secondary school French teacher in the “Education Nationale”. I taught French as a Foreign Language at university level in Latvia and France, and currently in Scotland, where I have been working for the University of Edinburgh since 2013. In 2017, I created Babble (DELC Creative Writing Magazine) with my colleague Sylvain Blanche.

I am also a poet, under the name Anne-Laure Coxam.

Collaboration in progress

12 [a collective of 12 women]

Following the collaboration Content Work Produce Form, initiated and led by JL Williams, 12 women poets started an online collaboration lasting for a year (January 2017 – December 2017.) The project is still ongoing and has led to readings at Stanza Festival (St Andrews - March 2018 and 2024) and various other events and projects.

Event Organisation: Vive the [R]évolution

Vive the [R]évolution was a series of 7 poetry nights held between November 2013 and March 2015 at the French Institute of Edinburgh. Vive the [R]évolution was à propos translation of and between French and Scottish poetry, which hosted contemporary Scottish/Scotland based poets (Peter Manson, nick-e melville, Rody Gorman, Lila Matsumoto, Madeleine Campbell, Katharine Swarbrick & Jane Goldman and Meg Bateman.)
