Anna Cooper (PhD Student)

Background

I am currently working toward my PhD in Education at Moray House. The project aims to develop a conceptual framework for understanding how children experience learning in an artistic discipline. The project explores aesthetics and educational struggle in the context of learning in music.

Prior to staring on the PhD programme, I completed my MSc in Education at Moray House, graduating with distinction in all elements of the course. My dissertation was notable for its PhD level work developing the concept of aesthetic struggle as a conceptual framework with potential research value to scholars in the field of education and the arts. I have held governance roles on the boards of schools and music charities and currently work in the education sector.

My academic interests are largely focused on aesthetics, learner struggle, music education and philosophy of education.
