Background

Ana Maria graduated from the University of Tras-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD) in Portugal, with an Integrated Master’s degree in Veterinary Medicine. Since graduating,  Ana Maria had the opportunity to work as a general practitioner in a small animal veterinary hospital in Portugal and in Hampshire, she has completed two Rotating Internships (one in a busy referral centre in Alton, Hampshire and the second at the Hospital for Small Animals at the University of Edinburgh). Since then she has focused solely on Veterinary Neurology and Neurosurgery, having completed a Neurology Internship at another referral centre in Derbyshire and, as of September 2022, Ana Maria has returned to the Hospital for Small Animals to undertake the Neurology and Neurosurgery Residency.
