Research summary

I am researching the significance of mysticism for economic thought, by considering how the political and economic approaches employed by mystics differ from the rational and empirical approaches that dominate contemporary political and economic theory.

Looking at the work of Howard Thurman and Simone Weil, I hope to demonstrate that mystical knowledge provides a unique and underexplored approach to political and economic problems, helping to challenge the narrative that there is no alternative to our current economic order, and therefore to climate catastrophe.
