Background
Dr Alice Austin is based in the Heritage Collections team of the Centre for Research Collections. She joined the University of Edinburgh in 2022 as a Web Archivist on the Archive of Tomorrow project, a Wellcome Trust-funded project which aimed to curate a collection of c.10,000 health-related sites. As Web Archivist for the University, Dr Austin is currently involved in the design and delivery of the University’s web archiving programme.
Outside of web archiving, her research interests include contemporary and ‘rapid response’ collecting practices in heritage institutions; the narrative aspects of archival action; the ethical implications of collection development; the relationships between heritage and identity; and the impact of technological modes of thinking on heritage practice.
