Background
Alan Fleming has held a variety of academic and industrial posts and since 2003 has specialised in machine learning in retinal imaging. During this time, he developed the imaging algorithms that were incorporated into Scotland's diabetic retinal screening programme and worked with Scotland's retinal imaging company Optos. In 2022 he joined the Diabetes Medical informatics group where he is continuing research into retinal imaging and complications in diabetes.
