Mrs Caroline Mosley (RVN, MSc, DipMgmt (Open), BHS CCH, PgCAP, SFHEA)

Senior Lecturer in Veterinary Clinical Skills

Background

I grew up in Cumbria and spent my childhood riding and competing ponies, including representing England in Showjumping teams.  When the time came to decide on a career it was always going to be with animals and I qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 1998 while working in a mixed first opinion multi branch practice. I then spent a year travelling/working in Australia  as a RVN in first opinion small animal practice before returning to the UK to take up an employed role as a falconer in a conservation Centre where I had previously spent many years volunteering.

I moved to Edinburgh in 2002 to join the Dick Vet team as a nurse in their multi disciplinary referral hospitals working in multiple departments such as surgery, medicine, exotics, pharmacy, first opinion and ECC.  I had a short break from nursing to try my hand at pharmaceutical territory management.  In 2011 I returned to the Vet School to head up the veterinary nurse training in the small animal and equine hospitals then moving to managing the OSCE practical skills assessment for our veterinary undergraduates and manager of the Clinical Skills department and Year Director (Cohort Lead) for our Graduate Entry Programme.  In 2024 I was promoted to Senior Lecturer in Veterinary Clinical Skills and after completing a MSc in Educational Research, I am now working towards a Doctorate in Education with a particular interest in the development of competence and assessment of clinical practical skills.
