Biography

Background

I am a palaeoceanographer and specialist on microfossils interested in understanding the dynamics and controls on past climate change. I have recently lead the IODP (International Ocean Drilling Programme) Scientific committee, and have taken part in many cruises. Recent work has involved quantifying the ole of the biological pump after mass extinctions, to the reconstruction surface ocean temperatures in deep time.
