Background
Emily Newman graduated with a BSc in Psychology and a PhD in Health Psychology from the Institute of Psychological Sciences at the University of Leeds. Emily was previously the Postgraduate Research Director within Clinical Psychology, Programme Director for the PhD and Masters by Research programmes in Clinical Psychology (2014 to 2018), and Programme Director for the Psychology of Mental Health (Conversion) programme (2018 to 2021). Emily has been teaching on the Psychology conversion programme since 2015 and her research looks at online behaviour, including social media usage and disordered eating. Emily is currently the School Academic Misconduct Officer.
Postgraduate teaching
Emily currently teaches Biological Psychology on the MSc Psychology of Mental Health (Conversion) programme.

Research summary
Emily’s research interests relate to online behaviour. Her publications include work on disordered eating and body image in the general population, and how these are affected by social media, and understanding how internet offending can be deterred.
