Senate hosts HE expert
The University Senate is to welcome its first external guest speaker at its meeting on Wednesday 9 February.

Professor Sir David Watson, Principal of Green Templeton College, the University of Oxford, will address the Senate on the topic of ‘Academics for the 21st Century’.
Leader in HE management
Professor Watson is one of the UK's leading experts on Higher Education Management and until recently was Professor of Higher Education Management at the Institute of Education, University of London.
He has contributed widely to developments in UK higher education, including as a member of the Committee of Inquiry, chaired by Lord Dearing in 1996-97.
Between 1990 and 2005 he was Vice-Chancellor of the University of Brighton.
21st-century academics
The theme of 'Academics for the 21st Century' follows Senate’s previous discussion on 'Graduates for the 21st Century'.
The discussion aims to consider the sort of skills, experiences and attributes that might be required by the academic staff of the future.
