New Secretary appointed
The University has appointed Sarah Smith, the Scottish Government’s Director of Learning and Head of Policy Profession, as University Secretary.

She succeeds Dr Kim Waldron who will leave the University in early March.
Strong University links
Ms Smith has worked for the Scottish Government since 2001.
She has strong links to the University of Edinburgh’s Academy of Government and has been a Visiting Professor with the School of Social and Political Science since 2007.
She spent a secondment year with the University in 2007 as Associate Vice-Principal and was largely responsible for devising the University’s Internationalisation Strategy.
I am delighted to be taking on this role. I very much look forward to playing a full part in the University's future. The next few years are going to be exciting ones.
The Secretary’s role includes responsibility for all governance and planning functions, student services, development and alumni relations and the University’s international office.
