Project activity
We use Controlled Human Infection Models of pneumococcal disease to understand protection from colonisation and infections. Current studies include
- Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine efficacy studied by Controlled Human Infection Model (PCV13-CHIM)
- Pneumococcal protein vaccine (PBV-CHIM)
- Pneumococcal type 3 model (SPN3)
- Controlled human infection models in people living with HIV (EPOCH)
- Advanced CHIM acceptability (ACHIMA)
We also study severe infections and clinical intervention in the hospital. Current studies include
- Understanding use of oxygen in the hospital, and the means to improve it (Pre-BREATHE)
- A clinical trial of standard flow vs high flow oxygen to improve outcome in patients admitted with hypoxia (BREATHE)
