Mr Fawz Kazzazi (MB BChir, MA (Cantab.), LLM, MBA, MRCS, FRSA)

Thesis title: Data at the Point of Need: Identifying and Establishing the Conditions for the Exchange of Data between Patients, NHS England, and Third Parties

Background

Fawz Kazzazi is a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Registrar in a 6-year London training programme, combining clinical expertise with academia. He holds an MBA and LLM, where his research focused on the intersection of medical technology, professional duties, and data. Currently, he is pursuing a part-time PhD in Medical Data Law, exploring the dynamic interplay between healthcare technology, law, democracy, and society.

Fawz's PhD thesis, entitled "Data at the Point of Need: Identifying and Establishing the Conditions for the Exchange of Data between Patients, NHS England, and Third Parties," seeks to establish a patient-led framework for medical data exchange that upholds ethical and legal standards while addressing the complexities of modern healthcare systems.

In addition to his legal and medical pursuits, Fawz has authored a medical textbook on embryology for medical students and resident doctors. He has also taught the subject at various colleges at the University of Cambridge. His contributions to academia include numerous presentations and published works on topics such as plastic and reconstructive surgery, medicine, leadership, and healthcare infrastructure/logistics.

Through his interdisciplinary approach, Fawz aims to advance both the legal and clinical landscapes, fostering innovation and improving outcomes for patients and healthcare systems alike.
