Background

Dan Castro is an award-winning multi-disciplinary animator, designer and educator living in Edinburgh, Scotland. His work explores big feelings told in simple stories, inspired by watching cartoons on his grandad’s VHS player.

He spends the rest of his time developing his international teaching and research practices. Currently his PhD looms large in his brain.

Research summary

My main research interest, and the focus of my PhD research, is in plork - the cultivation and conscious engagement of playfulness as part of creative practice and arts pedagogy. I'm interested in using playfulness to create sustainable, exciting ways of making and teaching not only animation, but art and design in general.
