University-wide event celebrates dissertation submissions
250 students joined professors, supervisors and senior staff at a reception in Old College to recognise the culmination of their time in Edinburgh.
The event united postgraduate students from across the University to acknowledge the work they put in to completing and submitting their Masters dissertations. It marked the end of their studies and the start of the countdown to graduations in November.

Attendees enjoyed live music, cakes and canapes as they watched a video of their peers sharing reflections on their time in Edinburgh. Colm Harmon, Vice-Principal Students, delivered a speech inviting students to look towards the future with ambition and self-belief.
I urge our students to carry forward the spirit of inquiry and the ethic of hard work that they have demonstrated during their time here. They go out into the world knowing that they are prepared, not only to face challenges but to redefine them, and to turn obstacles into opportunities for growth and innovation.
The Dissertation Celebration event was an opportunity for students to meet with each other and staff outside of the classroom and toast the completion of an important milestone in their academic, professional and personal lives.
