University welcomes this year’s summer interns
More than 70 Employ.ed on Campus student interns attended a welcome event at the Outreach Centre in Holyrood on 3 June 2024.

Lucy Evans, Deputy Secretary Students, welcomed the student interns, as they officially joined the University as staff members.
The interns then heard from the Internships and Work Experience Team at the Careers Service and previous years’ interns to get advice on how to make the most of their internship. They also had the chance to meet and connect with other interns to grow their network.

Boosting students’ professional skills
The University is one of the biggest employers in the City of Edinburgh and proud to be able to offer high quality paid internships across all areas of the University’s work from festivals to marketing, and research to project management.
Employ.ed on Campus offers a structured summer internship programme to undergraduates in their second, third and penultimate years.
Over the last 12 years the University has hosted a total of 619 Employ.ed on Campus interns. This is the thirteenth year the Employ.ed on Campus Programme is running. In 2024, around 75 interns will be working in 32 departments across the University, from a record number of 1,700 applications.
