Biography

Background

Felícia is a PhD student at the University of Edinburgh. She graduated with a Bachelor's and Teaching degree in History from the State University of Santa Catarina (UDESC), Brazil, and received her MA in Peace, Development, Security and International Conflict Transformation from the UNESCO Chair for Peace Studies at the University of Innsbruck, Austria. Along with her work in Academia, Felícia has also worked in the marketing, advertising and technology industries, and is a great lover of all things regarding history, culture, philosophy, politics and communication.

Current research interests

For the past 10 years I have been researching how Palestinian youth, mainly through art, have been reshaping and creating new spaces for resistance and for existing. My current research is an investigation on how Palestinian and pro-Palestine rappers are creating futures for Palestine, through their art, music and community building. My hypothesis is that through their art, these rappers are creating Palestinian futurity - meaning possible futures for Palestine. Hopefully this analysis will contribute to seeing the Palestinian struggle not only in terms of opposition to objective power structures and resistance to a scarce material reality, but also as a movement of creation of fertile spaces, times and futures.
