Background
I am a Business Development (BD) Executive of Edinburgh Innovations that is based at the Easter Bush Campus. In this role, I am involved in Industry Engagement and Knowledge Exchange and Commercialisation (KEC) activities of the Roslin Institute and the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies.
In this BD role, my key tasks are:
- negotiating commercial and IP terms and implementing contracts
- identification of engagement opportunities
- connecting and engaging relevant academics and companies
- leveraging research funding
Previously, I was a Lead Scientist in the in the field of drug development for lung infections such as pneumonia, asthma and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis within Charles River Laboratories Edinburgh. I was in charge of developing specialised infection in vivo model in rodents for pharmaceutical clients. I gained my BSc and PhD from the University of Edinburgh. In my PhD, I worked on microbial transcriptomic response to antibiotic treatment in in vitro and ex vivo bacteraemia models. I was also a post‑doctoral research fellow at the University of Edinburgh continuing on my PhD research and expanding into the use microfluidic devices for point of care diagnostic tests. Outside work, I am also a passionate photographer who has won several photography competitions and been featured on the BBC website.
